Successful Representation by Antonis Georgiou
Phoebus, Christos Clerides & Associates LLC successfully represented an applicant before the Family Court of Larnaca in paternity recognition proceedings (Application No. 8/2025). In its interim decision dated 4 November 2026, the Court rejected objections raised by the alleged biological father, including claims that the proceedings were time-barred and that his advanced age and health prevented genetic testing.
The Court accepted the applicant’s position regarding the applicable limitation period and exercised its powers under Article 24A of Law 187/1991, ordering the parties concerned to undergo DNA testing within one month. Costs were also awarded in favour of the applicant.
The decision highlights the importance of genetic evidence in establishing biological parentage and the Court’s authority to order such examinations notwithstanding objections by the alleged biological parent.
The applicant was represented by Antonis Georgiou, Partner at Phoebus, Christos Clerides & Associates LLC.
